Gym-nasty

I took two, one for wiping hyperlink my brow and one for wiping the equipment. Now, the policy is that you bring your own towel for yourself, while the gym provides special mauve towels at ten foot intervals throughout the work out area for the equipment. At each towel station is a spray bottle containing an antiseptic solution for wiping down the equipment before and after use. The spray bottles state that it is a disinfectant cleanser, bactericide, virucide, fungicide, mildewstat, etc. that is caustic and toxic, requiring the user to wear goggles and rubber gloves before applying the contents to a surface. No one in the gym using the stuff is so equipped. I stay away from it, but I notice that I must wash my hands after touching equipment or my hands begin to itch from contact dermatitis. OSHA Max Workout warns that chemical disinfectants, such as cresol and phenol, can be corrosive to skin, can cause central nervous system damage in repeated low concentrations, and are suspected carcinogens. However, they may be necessary, for the worst case scenario in the steamy gyms and locker rooms is Methicillin-Resistant Staphyloccocus Aureus - MRSA (pronounced mer-sa).

Observations From Orioles' Workout Wednesday

There was no clubhouse access today -- so if South Korean pitcher Suk-min Yoon was hiding in there, I wouldnt have seen him -- but I was free to watch the morning workout here in sunny Florida. Since it wasnt an official workout today, both major league and minor league players participated. Among the major league pitchers who threw side sessions go here now were Steve Johnson, T.J. McFarland, Eduardo Rodriguez and Mike Wright. Related Sights and sounds from Orioles FanFest [Video] Among the position players already here are Nick Markakis, Chris Davis, Ryan Flaherty, David Lough, Jonathan Schoop, Alexi Casilla and Cord Phelps. Catchers Matt Wieters, Steve Clevenger and Johnny Monell are here, as well. As pitchers ran conditioning drills, left-hander Wei-Yin Chen worked on an agility drill off to the side as part of his rehab from offseason right knee surgery, running from cone to cone and picking up a baseball being rolled to him and tossing it back. Right-hander Dylan Bundy also continued his rehab from Tommy John surgery last June by throwing long toss.
